I’m sitting on the left with bandmates Christian Anderson, Tristan Green and Devin Gasteiger at an antique shop on Queen west.
Charles Justice, one of the most aggressive songs on Vehicles (2008) was always a crowd pleaser, and one of the most challenging tracks to play in the studio.
After nailing this tune on the first take, producer Andre Wahl gave me one of the best compliments of my life: “that’ll get you on the cover of Modern Drummer”… well it hasn’t happened yet, but I’m still proud of this performance!
Here’s some drumming highlights from Braintoy’s 2005 EP Tremors. One of my finest memories from this era was going to the Phoenix on a Saturday night when DJ Martin Streek happened to spin two of these tracks live to air on The Edge 102.1
